We’re big fans of Californian country star Eve Selis (2 million MP3.com downloads and counting - you go girl!) and when she played the Half Moon in Putney, Sam and Col went along.

Selis’ sound is “roadhouse rock” - a blend of soaring pop melodies, hard-hitting rock and roll, and alternative country twang, topped off by Eve’s passionate lemonade-and-whisky voice. Radio 2’s Bob Harris loves her and described her live show as “one of the best I’ve seen.” At Putney, Eve had a second, eagles-related close encounter.

Let us explain. Back in 2001, Eve got a job singing the national anthem to an arena full of business types and someone thought it'd be a good idea to get a bald eagle (the only one in the country licensed by law to do this) released from the balcony so that it would circle the audience dramatically before landing on its trainer's wrist. Unfortunately, the eagle got stage fright and instead landed on Eve's head. (According to Native American mythology, this means she’s been annointed).

You can see the video of Eve and the Eagle by going to her site here. Meantime, here's Eve having a slightly less spiritual meeting with Sam and Col. You gotta love that hat.
